MOESIA INFERIOR. Nicopolis ad Istrum. Macrinus, 217-218. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 27 mm, 11.36 g, 7 h), Marcus Claudius Agrippa, legatus consularis. AY K OΠΠEΛ CEY [MAKΡINOC] Laureate and cuirassed bust of Macrinus to right, wearing aegis on his left shoulder. Rev. ΥΠ AΓΡIΠΠA NIKOΠOΛ-ITΩN ΠΡOC / ICTΡΩ Macrinus, raising his right hand, driving quadriga to right preceded by attendant holding vexillum; above, trophy flanked by two captives seated on ground line; on car, Nike flying right, holding wreath. AMNG I 1712. Hristova-Jekov 8.23.34.2. Rare. A beautifully patinated example with a very attractive reverse. Areas of weakness, otherwise, very fine.
